“Today, 37 states have ‘shall issue’ permit systems and as of July 1, 2011 three of those states will also allow for permitless carry (as does Vermont, which has no permit system). This has resulted in an estimated 6 million Americans exercising this right. With all of these ‘guns in public places,’ in 2009 the country experienced a 39-year low in its violent rate crime and a 45-year low in its murder rate, according to the FBI. These historic lows also occurred in the absence of a federal ‘assault weapons’ ban, a law for which the Brady Campaign awards yet more points at the state level.”

And yet, to hear anti-gun zealots speak they make it sound like it is the Wild West in America. The irony is that the ones committing the crimes are doing so with ILLEGAL guns, but gun control types believe disarming law-abiding citizens is the way to go.

No doubt this will come “under fire” from the anti-gun crowd.

Last Wednesday, the Governor of Wyoming signed into law a Constitutional Carry law that returns real self defense freedom to the state of Wyoming.
 
This major sea change didn’t happen by accident.
 
It happened because of the National Association for Gun Rights, working in conjunction with the boots-on-the-ground group, Wyoming Gun Owners.
 
And, I’d like to keep that ball rolling by making it happen again and again.
 
Yes, I know: We haven’t passed it in Colorado yet, but we’re working on it.  Only Vermont, Alaska, Arizona, and now Wyoming enjoy that freedom.
 
But the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners and the National Association for Gun Rights is working to bring it to more states. 
 
 
In fact, watch for Montana and Iowa to pass this important legislation next. 
 
  
It’s in every American gun owners’ best interest to see this kind of freedom-enabling legislation pass in every state possible.
 
Concentrated firepower is the key, along with hard work and dedicated grassroots pressure at a local level combined with committed leadership from the National Association for Gun Rights. That’s a winning combination.
 
Where was the institutional gun lobby? Taking credit once the fight was over, where none was due. They literally ignored the entire fight.
 
But it made no difference — we still passed it in Wyoming.

The collection will go on display at the Shelburne Museum next spring. The news site noted:

“The 106-gun collection, amassed by Terry Tyler, consists of firearms manufactured in the state in the 18th and 19th centuries. Among them: Hunting rifles, pistols and military guns from the Mexican-American and Civil Wars, some with stocks made of tiger maple, burled walnut and other decorative woods. The exhibit, ‘Lock, Stock and Barrel: The Terry Tyler Collection of Vermont Firearms,’ opens May 15 at the museum.”

Finally, praising of the history of guns in the media.

The story noted not only that attendance of the gun show was up, but called out a few highly desirable pieces, “including a musket carried by a soldier in a New Hampshire regiment in the Revolutionary War.”

 Kudos to The Time Argus. It is nice to see news in the mainstream media that calls out the importance of historical firearms.
