Ted Nugent Speaks Out on Guns and Obama
This week rocker Ted Nugent is taking heat for speaking out against President Obama. During an interview on CNN this week, Nugent offered this commentary:
“Anybody that wants to disarm me can drop dread. Anybody that wants to make me unarmed and helpless, people that want to literally create the proven places where more innocents are killed called gun-free zones, we’re gonna beat you. We’re gonna vote you out of office or suck on my machine gun. You can take it whichever way you like.”
Of course Nugent hasn’t been one who has been known to hold his tongue. Our friends at Newsbusters.org offered the full transcript, but here is our favorite line… when Pierce Morgan said it was too easy for criminals to get guns, and laws should be changed, Nugent offered this thought:
Gossip Blogger Perez Hilton Misses Point on Guns AGAIN
This week gossip blogger Perez Hilton wrote a post that took aim at Ted Nugent and his love of guns. Nugent had played at the recent NRA Convention in Pittsburgh, and Hilton fired back noting:
“Does he and the NRA really think that making it harder for those who are not responsible enough, or people with malicious intent, to get guns is a life-threatening problem? Because to us, it doesn’t sound like anyone is taking their guns out of their hands or their end-ability to buy them, but rather putting up a little inconvenience that their passion for guns should surpass.
“Obama recently tried to get the opposing sides together to find ways to make gun control more effective, rather than outright ban them, but the NRA rejected that call. Because, not compromising and being stubborn for safety sake is always the best call.”
A few things need to be set straight. First, Nugent and the NRA never said that they want to make it easier for those with malicious intent to get guns. On the contrary, Nugent and the NRA believe that we should have the right to defend ourselves against those who might have malicious intent to harm us!
Next, Hilton writes “gun control” and suggests that that there are ways of making “gun control more effective,” but what does that mean? This is a naïve and frankly idealized view of the situation. Too many times liberal minded and anti-gun types write or speak about “effective gun control,” somehow suggesting that this will keep guns out of the hands of criminals and dangerous people.
But in fact, it more likely keeps guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens, and disarms us.
2011 SHOT Show Recap
Here is a look at some of the highlights of the 2011 Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show), which took place this past week in Las Vegas.
Huff and Puff and Brady Brunch Lash Out at Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor”
The Huffington Post took aim at Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally, and offered some choice commentary from The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Beck’s event, which is being labeled as a nonpolitical rally, will feature speeches by Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent and is partially sponsored by the National Rifle Association. That was enough to get the anti-gun crowd all huffed and puffed. The Brady Center offered a reaction, which included this harsh statement:
“Most jarring is the sad irony of all of these people at the podium, with their supporters spread across our National Mall, celebrating, in part, their worship of guns.”
This isn’t about a “worship of guns,” but rather a respect for the Constitution of the United States. This is just further proof that the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence should really re-brand itself as the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Ownership.
