Brian Terry’s Family Alleges Fast and Furious Lies
This week our hearts really go out to the family of Brian Terry, the border control agent who was shot with a gun from the ATF’s Fast and Furious debacle, as The Los Angeles Times noted “Slain border agent’s family alleges lies over ATF gun program.” The paper reported:
The Terry family alleged that then-U.S. Atty. Dennis K. Burke told them last March that the two weapons came from a store in Texas and were not part of Fast and Furious.
This is just the latest twist we’re hearing, and suggests more of a cover up. Why would the ATF need to lie… unless every part of this debacle was already being covered up?
The article closes:
In fact, the notice says, “(then-U.S. Atty. Dennis K.) Burke actually knew within hours of Brian’s murder that they were purchased from a Phoenix gun shop under ATF surveillance the previous January” — a fact borne out by Burke’s emails.
We just ask again, why isn’t this story leading the nightly news? Where is the mainstream media outrage?

Yet more on Santa and Guns – Of Course NPR Hates It
National Public Radio had to run the story titled, “Guns & Poses With Santa: Anything Wrong With That?” We already know that the left wingers at NPR are nodding their heads while asking the question. First, they probably hate Christmas and we know they already hate guns!
So here is how the story started out:
A Democratic state representative in Arizona thinks it’s wrong for a Scottsdale gun club to be giving folks, including children, a chance to have their photos taken with Santa Claus while “holding pistols and military-style rifles,” The Associated Press says.
Of course they had to throw in the negative voice first. But come on, did we really expect anything else from NPR on this story?
Even Slate Reports: The Daily Caller’s Perfectly Legitimate Crusade Against Holder
How bad are things for Eric Holder? Even Slate, in a piece titled “The Daily Caller’s Perfectly Legitimate Crusade Against Holder” asks why the mainstream media isn’t reporting on Fast and Furious. This is a (to be blunt) shocking turn of events, and one that will hopefully shock the MSM. The article noted:
“The Daily Caller has been on a crusade. For some reason — I’m not invited to the liberal media planning sessions at Bohemian Grove anymore — the unfolding scandal over the ATF’s botched “Fast and Furious” program has not caught fire in the mainstream press. It gets covered, but it doesn’t get A1. Editorialists are not fulminating about it. When it is covered, it gets the treatment Dana Milbank gave it here: An explanation of why a bungled plan to let 1,400 guns fall into the heads of drug cartels in order for agents to track them isn’t, you know, a scandal. “Investigators found evidence that an official at the National Security Council, Kevin O’Reilly, communicated with Phoenix ATF official William Newell, but that’s a barrel and trigger shy of a smoking gun,” wrote Milbank. “There’s also evidence that Attorney General Eric Holder and others knew about the bungled program earlier than they originally let on, but there’s not yet evidence of any high-level White House involvement.”
Yawns from the MSM. Shouts from the Daily Caller.
Again, we just hope those yawns stop and real coverage picks up. But the truth is… Holder has gotta go!
Santa Can’t Catch a Break
While there continues to be a war against Christmas waging in this country, many in the media are butting their noses into the fact that a gun club in Arizona is offering a chance for members to pose for pictures with Santa while holding a firearm.
The Associated Press offered a snide take on the story, and felt the need to call in outside opinion. The story, which ran in The Chicago Sun Times (a far distance from Scottsdale we’ll add) offered this passage:
Democratic state Rep. Steve Farley, who proposed an unsuccessful ban on large-capacity gun magazines like the one used in the Jan. 8 mass shooting in Tucson that killed six people and wounded U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and 12 others, said the gun club’s photo op was inappropriate.
“To involve machine guns and Santa in a celebration in the birth of Jesus Christ is the worst kind of heresy I can imagine,” said Farley. “I would suggest that the people who created this read some of the New Testament.”
Is this really such a big deal? Santa has been parodied over the years, mocked and shown in various lights. The Scottsdale Gun Club did not do any of these things, and yet the media can’t help but attack this event!

ABC News Uses “High Powered” Whilst Reporting on Guns and Santa
Many outlets are reporting this week that the Scottsdale Gun Club is featuring a program that allows members to pose for pictures with Santa Claus while holding a variety of weapons. ABC News made sure to put some bias on it, noting:
Ring in the holiday not only with Santa but with a few high-powered assault rifles too.
As we’ve noted many, many times, assault rifles are not technically “high-powered” and we have to ask why it is always necessary for the media to describe these guns this way?
Even Town Hall Misrepresents Guns
While Town Hall has been one of the few outlets to offer reasonably unbiased reporting on Fast and Furious, and we’ve been following their coverage closely, we do have to note that even our friends make mistakes. This week Katie Pavlich noted:
“Since finding out about Operation Fast and Furious, Arizona Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu has been anything but amused. With no regard for local law enforcement, the Obama Justice Department supplied the most dangerous criminals in North America with high powered weapons, including .50-calibur [sic] sniper rifles and AK-47s, leading to the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and at least 200 innocent Mexican citizens. Now with the Southern border still wide open, Babeu and his deputies will face the barrels of those guns as they do their job to combat Mexican drug cartels illegally operating in Arizona.”
We agree with most of what Pavlich states, but we take aim at her suggesting that AK-47s could (or should) be considered high powered weapons. They are not. This is a typical mistake made in the media however. But one we continue to watch out for.
Pavlich also misspelled “caliber” and this shows that while she may understand the situation, her knowledge of firearms is somewhat lacking. This is also common in the media, but we do want to give credit where credit is due, and say kudos to Katie Pavlich for even reporting on the story, but suggest she brush up on her background on firearms.
Arizona Daily Star: US officials knew of ‘gun walk’ issue in Sept. 09
Who knew what and when continues to be hotly debated, and this week the Arizona Daily Star reported, “US officials knew of ‘gun walk’ issue in Sept. 09.” The story noted:
“Newly released Justice Department documents show the links between the 2006-07 Tucson case, Operation Wide Receiver, and the 2009-10 Phoenix case that exposed the investigative tactic of letting smugglers take guns to Mexico. The documents also show that officials as high as Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer knew the Tucson case involved letting guns into Mexico but didn’t spread the word in a way that could have halted Fast and Furious.”
Of course this is still being spun by some in the media, as well as by the Department of Justice as a blame Bush tactic, while also letting Eric Holder off the hook. But as we see it, if Holder didn’t know that is still a problem.
Rules Necessary to Fight Mexican Drug Cartels
This week Main Justice offered a story titled, “DOJ: New Gun Store Rules Necessary to Fight Mexican Drug Cartels,” which actually makes us question again why American gun owners and gun shops need to face greater scrutiny because of the situation south of the border?
Actually to the story, “the two month old regulation on gun merchants in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas is necessary to prevent guns from being sold to Mexican drug cartels.”
Again, this is a disgraceful situation considering ATF’s role in Fast and Furious, and Mexico’s handling of their affairs.
