CNN’s Roland Martin Calls to “Whack the 2nd Amendment”

In an editorial Roland Martin, CNN political analyst, takes aim at the issue of the illegal aliens, and how this relates to the 14th Amendment. He tries to imply that those on the right are looking to repeal the 14th Amendment completely, and he goes on a tirade of sorts, in which he suggests that we “whack the 2nd Amendment.” But we don’t think he’s joking, or just trying to make a point. He seems to be one of those out there liberals that seriously believes that this amendment has to go. Read more

Supreme Court Issues 2nd Amendment Ruling Today

For over a year Firearms Truth has been reporting on the conflict between gun rights and gun control advocates who have battled it out in America’s courtrooms. In D.C. v Heller, the Supreme Court ruled that gun control laws in the District of Columbia violated the 2nd Amendment’s right to keep and bare arms. This earlier case only applied to Federal land. Today, in a 5-4 decision, The Court is expected to extend to the states the constitutional protection that citizens exercise on government land.

It is too early to celebrate now. Despite the Heller ruling, the District of Columbia is being accused of not honoring the mandate set by The Court. But all freedom loving Americans can feel good that their rights can’t be trampled on by rogue politicians who manipulate voter’s emotions for their own gain. It’s not surprising to learn that the cities with the strictest gun laws have the highest gun violence. Today, the highest court in the land is restoring law abiding citizens something most people of the world can’t enjoy. Thank God for America.

Will the World Court Infringe on your 2nd Amendment Rights?

My headline looks like a goofy conspiracy theory that pollutes the Internet, like the disgusting claims made by the 9/11 Truthers or those who preach anti-Semitism based on the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, The merchants of propaganda bundle truth, half-truth and outright lies into bundles of illogic and falsehood that is difficult to untie. Like Alexander and the Gordian Knott, I tend to use a well sharpened intellect to cut through the bunk.

Now that my skeptical credentials are out of the way, I am stunned to report that Chicago’s Mayor Daley wants to sue gun manufactures in the World Court. The Hague may hear and rule on a legal case that could infringe on your 2nd Amendment Rights and impact our Constitution and ultimately our sovereignty. Read more

How to Answer Stupid Anti-Gun Arguments

If you have a well rounded circle of friends, at least one will be against private firearm ownership. This can lead to heated discussions. Invariably, your gun hating friend will resort to the slippery-slope argument. “If the 2nd Amendment allows you to own a handgun, why can’t you own an atomic bomb too?” Ridiculous, right?  There are few individuals or groups that can afford the cost and maintenance atomic weapons require. But beyond this, the 2nd Amendment is clear. We have the right to “bear Arms.” Read more

Guns and the Law Part I

Last week the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the landmark case McDonald v. Chicago. Mr. McDonald lives in the city of Chicago and wants to own a handgun for self and home protection. His neighborhood is one of the most violent in the city but Chicago’s draconian gun laws makes handgun ownership nearly impossible for the average citizen. When the Supreme Court ruled in DC v. Heller that the gun laws in the District of Columbia were too strict and denied citizens their 2nd Amendment Rights, Mr. McDonald filed a similar suit. Read more

Yahoo News Shows Anti-Firearm Bias

Yahoo news posted a story today about the Supreme Court’s upcoming docket.  The Court has agreed to hear 55 cases this year. The Yahoo story highlights some of the cases, like the President’s request to block the release of photos showing detainee abuse, whether financial strategies or management principles can be patented and a dozen other issues.

From all of these cases, including hearing whether the 2nd Amendment applies to the states, Yahoo has a picture of a police officer holding up an anti-gun right poster. There are no other pictures. In fact the story’s opening paragraph is about Sonia Sotomayor being the first Hispanic justice. But her photo isn’t shown. It is clear that Yahoo is biased against your 2nd Amendment Right, which is fine if expressed on the editorial page. But when bias becomes part of the hard news, that news organization becomes suspect and should be avoided.

Washington Post Gets It Half Right

In an online editorial today, the Washington Post championed a change in gun control laws through the Supreme Court. Sometime next year The Court will hear McDonald v Chicago, in which Chicago residents challenged the constitutionality of that city’s broad and strict gun laws. Read more

Supreme Court Grants Cert For Local Gun Control Laws

The Supreme Court decided this morning to hear whether draconian local and state gun control laws violate the 2nd Amendment. These laws make legal ownership of firearms practically impossible because of bureaucratic hurdles and high fees that are structured to keep average citizens from exercising their 2nd Amendment Right. Don’t be surprised if anti-gun nuts gear up their propaganda and protest machine in an attempt to influence The Court. Read more

9th Circuit To Sit On 2nd Amendment Ruling

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals held en banc arguments yesterday on a firearm rights case. Since the landmark case, DC v Heller, federal appellate courts have differed as to how Heller impacts state and local gun control laws. In Heller, the Supreme Court held that an individual has the right to own firearms on federal land and that the District of Colombia’s gun laws infringed on this right. The question now is how does the 2nd Amendment apply to the states? Read more

Firing Back: Gun Dealers vs. Car Dealers

One of the biggest complaints that the anti-firearm crowd has about gun shows is that supposedly guns can be sold without background checks. The argument is that firearms can pass through many hands, and supposedly enter some gray market. The problem with this logic is that if a gun is legally purchased at ANY point it enters the system. If the gun is used in a crime it can still be traced back to that owner. If the owner illegally sells it, such as to a criminal, that last “legal” owner could be traced back to the gun. Thus these so-called straw purchases aren’t really all that common – or certainly not as common as the mainstream media has made out.

The other problem with this complaint is that the anti-firearm zealots, along with the mainstream media expect everyone to act like a licensed dealer. This is a problem because some individuals, including this reporter, can’t really become dealers. It isn’t that I’ve broken any law, but based on where I live I can’t get into the “guns business.” I can still legally buy and sell guns, and have to report everything to the police – at least anything that comes through New York City. For many individuals who only buy and sell a few guns, there is no reason for them to become “gun dealers” either. There is an extensive process to go through, paperwork to maintain, and essentially it becomes your job.

This is the case even if you just want to on the rare occasion set up a table at a local gun show, or even bring in a rifle to sell to another collector. The anti-gun crowd says these purchases are a problem because the guns change hand and could end up in criminals’ hands. Yes, this could happen, but should the bulk of legitimate buyers and sellers be made to suffer?

Now imagine that to buy or sell a used car you had to become a used car dealer? This is essentially what the anti-firearm crowd is asking for when it comes to guns. And actually, it would take everything a step further, this would mean making sure that when you sell a car the person has a license, insurance, isn’t wanted for a crime, etc. So instead of relying on the person to be responsible for all these things, you as the seller of a car would have to do this work. But given the direction this country is headed, it probably won’t be too long.
