Firing Back: Turn Gun Control Into Crime Control

With voters in Massachusetts essentially giving Obama and his left-leaning agenda the finger, let’s hope the “Coakly pucker factor” stings like a cold slap in the face for every member of congress up for reelection. The message was clear: It’s time to shut up and listen.

The career politician are shaking in their boots, some, like Sen Chris Dodd, have given notice and are bailing on a Kamikaze-like democratic party that’s all about ideology and not about America.

Talk to your representatives, both democrat and republican and give them your thoughts, your opinions on foolish, wasteful anti-gun initiatives that slow or restrict an honest Americans right to own a firearm. Have them explain how restrictive firearms laws prevent criminals from purchasing guns? Ask them if they would feel safe walking the streets of Port Au Prince Haiti without armed security?

Gun control has proved a waste of time and resources. Perhaps its time to give Obama and his friends a chance an opportunity to move to the center on something!

Firing Back: Consider Being In Haiti and Being Unarmed

The disaster that’s unfolding in the Carribean nation of Haiti is still unmeasured in its ferocity. With nearly the entire capital city apparently wiped from the map, the death toll could top 100,000. Mass destruction, complete loss of infrastructure, communications shot to hell and the national police and military facing an untenable catastrophe makes security the number one issue. Factually crime follows natural disaster; looting, cons, burglary, extortion, price gouging and innumerable criminal behavior by those desperate and those seeking to take advantage. Read more

Terrorist Haven Nations Object to Increased Airline Security

You think? Amazing to think that countries like Saudi Arabia (home to 19 of the 9/11 hijackers), Libya, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, and another 9 known terrorist hotspots would object to more stringent security measures for entry onto aircraft flying to the United States. Portrayed as racial profiling and not a realistic cure to identifying potential terrorists, one has to wonder how long it will take the Obama administration to relax those new rules. C’mon, the collective stupidity of our nation’s struggle with political correctness at the expense of our national security is mind-boggling and nearly suicidal. I have great distain for the current US administration however, this increased security on countries where terrorist factions reside just makes sense. If middle-eastern muslims are attacking your country, it only makes sense to focus the attention of your security efforts to counter the actions of middle eastern muslims. What is stupid is pretending that we’re being “fair” or that because we also check the 86 year old Japanese grandmother in a wheelchair, we’re “diverse” in our security activities. Screw that, profile, profile, profile. Political correctness pales to insignificance when compared to national security. I, nor the vast majority of American’s could give a rats ass about what any of those nations currently say about our security measures. But Mark my word, I’m willing to take bets that the Obama administration caves on this quickly. – CA, MSgt, USAF (Ret)

With Off-Year Elections Tilting Right, Is Obama’s Eye Off Gun Owners?

With crushing defeats for the democratic party in the New Jersey and Virginia governors races, resistance by members of their own party towards health care and Cap-In-Trade legislation plus a deepening burden of the growing economic malaise, the Obama administration appears not to have gun owners in their sights with any new or significant anti-gun legislation. Obama has clearly demonstrated that he and his administration live and govern by poll results and recently those once positive numbers have started to tank.

In the back rooms of the White House, Obamaites sweat it out as they work to sanitize every facet of information clean of any culpability by the President as they begin to realize and believe that not all Americans are content to behave like sheep.

This administration, it’s leader and it’s entourage, were highly touted as “setting a new standard” for communication, transparency, openness and non-partisan governance. To that end they have certainly lowered the bar on almost every facet of Presidential decorum, with Obama leading perhaps the most corrupt batch of liberal politicians this nation has witnessed in power. On many accounts, Obama’s administration and his legion of advisors, appear more like a virtual amateur hour of blatant partisan extremists. Composted of liberals, socialists, anarchists, communists and “czars” Obama’s inner circle is filled with people who probably couldn’t organize a trip to the circus let alone manage the health care or be trusted to provide for the defense of 300 million people.

The administration has problems and the November 3rd election is the proof. With that in mind, the administration is going to tread carefully and and be cautious of the battles it wishes to wage. With political storm clouds swelling on the horizon in the form of a republican resurgence, it’s doubtful that the democrats as a party, the President included, would attempt any major anti-gun legislation prior to the 2010 mid-term elections.

Missouri Man Shoots Self in Head While Giving “Safety Demonstration.”

If you were going to teach someone about driving safety would you jump in your car, drive 60 miles per hour, cross the center line and cause a head on collision to demonstrate the effectiveness of your vehicle’s airbargs? Mostly likely not but perhaps Mr James Looney would. Last Friday, with the best of intentions, the Missouri man wanted to teach his girl friend about the basics of firearms safety before taking her to a local shooting range. Looney’s problem was that his teaching methodology ran directly contrary with all the rules of safe firearm handling. Two basic tenants of firearms safety is treat all weapons as if they are loaded and never point a firearm at anything you don’t intend to destroy. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, to insure a demonstration filled with impressive drama and maximum impact Looney apparently placed a loaded weapon to his head and pulled the trigger. Can you say “poor judgement?” While media reports don’t specify exactly what occurred, one can surmise that Looney either didn’t engage the safety correctly or failed to engage it at all because when he pulled the trigger he fired a round directly into the side of his head. He died the next day. Putting a handgun, loaded or not to one’s head is foolish, dangerous and incredibly stupid. Anti-gun advocates will point to Mr. Looney’s death as another reason why guns are dangerous and should be controlled or even banned. The fact is Mr. Looney made the incredibly stupid decision to place a loaded firearm to his head and pull the trigger. The fact is safety goes hand in hand with common sense and the application of common sense simply can’t be legislated.

ACORN: Using Federal Dollars to Fund Gun Control?

As more and more information becomes available about the shady operations of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now or ACORN, it should come as no surprise that people are taking a harder look at past allegations of misconduct by the group. One such issue that is gaining attention is ACORN’s obvious disdain for the second amendment of the U.S. Constitution. In 2008, ACORN quietly backed anti-gun types in New Jersey in an unsuccessful attempt to to further regulate the purchase of handguns by limiting purchases to one per month. How did the organization fund that failed effort? With millions of dollars in government funding, it’s a good bet that some of that anti-gun campaign is funded by tax-payer dollars. That’s a no-no. This is the same ACORN that was slated to received over seven billion dollars in stimulus money courtesy of the Obama administration. The arrogance, bias and incontrovertible unlawful activities this group is involved in make ACORN an organization that simply can’t be trusted. From offering to help prostitutes conceal illegal brothels of minor sex-slaves illegally smuggled into the United States, to surreptitiously trying to poison the legislative process in New Jersey, this “organization” simply reeks of institutional corruption, they clearly have a political agenda that many would argue is divisive to America.

Oakland Gun Buy-Backs to prevent 1000 Future Murders?

It’s an amazing headline but that’s exactly the kind of deceptive, inaccurate message organizers of Oakland’s recent gun buy-back program are trying to spin to legitimize spending $250,000.

The concept of “gun buy-backs” as a methodology for reducing firearms availability and violence could only come from the minds of people who really can’t see the forest through the trees. Consider the recent buy-back in Oakland, California that offered $250 for any working firearm, no questions asked. With a budget of $80,000 allocated, that money was handed over to gleeful sellers in minutes leaving hundreds of armed citizens (or were they criminals) lined up on a public street waiting to sell their guns. According to USA Today, Oakland police chief Wayne Tucker made the decision to continue to “purchase” the firearms and issued IOUs totaling some $170,000. It’s not clear where the additional $170,000 spent will come from. Despite the fact that Oakland, like most of California is broke, Democratic state Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata called the program “cathartic” reinforcing the contention that in liberal ideology results matter less than the “feel good” factor. Couple that with a complete distain for the Second Amendment and you have nearly the perfect “happy, happy, joy, joy” program.Sure, it looks great on paper but don’t expect any real results.

Attention New Jersey Criminals:

It is now illegal to purchase your handguns in bulk from lawful firearms dealers.

Jon Corzine
That’s the message Governor Jon Corzine is sending to the bad guys in “The Garden State,” He just signed a bill that bans “bulk” handgun sales. Here’s a news flash for you Governor; the criminals could care less. They don’t buy handguns from legitimate dealers consequently the laws is useless.

Well it’s not totally useless. It certainly hurts one element of New Jersey society, that being every law-abiding citizen who may wish to purchase more than ONE handgun in a 30-day period. Jon Corzine believes that any number higher that ONE is “bulk” and it is now illegal in New Jersey to buy more than one handgun during a months time.

The Numbers Don’t Lie: Florida Report Debunks Myth of Concealed Carry Crime

When the topic of concealed carry and extending the rights of American citizens to keep and bear arms is broached, many people, especially left-leaning politicians revert to the big lie; Concealed carry equals more gun crime. Of course this comment isn’t based on facts or even cooked statistics. It’s simply a thoughtless, programmed, knee-jerk, anti-gun reaction. Any person with any sense of intellectual honesty who examines the “concealed gun carry equals increased gun violence” argument can only come to one conclusion; Bullsh*t.

McNair Murder: What should be regulated? Firearms or Mistresses

The murder of former NFL quarterback Steve McNair has prompted some media outlets and at least one Tennessee state senator to use the killing as a potential springboard to push for more state firearms legislation. McNair’s killer was his 20 year old girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi. Reported to be despondent over a looming breakup with the former Tennessee Titan quarterback, Kazemi purchased a handgun through a individual private sale and then used that weapon two days later to kill McNair. She then shot herself in the head. The “issue” at hand is had Kazemi tried to purchase that weapon in a Tennessee gun shop she would have been turned away because she was not 21 years old. However, there is no such requirement for a private sale of a handgun.
