International Museums: Athens War Museum

Some excellent examples of high quality 18th and 19th century long guns, truly worthly of any museum
While Athens is known for its splendid ruins, and fantastic museums that highlight the “Classical Era,” the city is also home to the extraordinary Athens War Museum. This museum chronicles the military history of the Greek peoples and includes a fine collection of military firearms from the 17th century to the modern day. Great emphasis is placed on the Greek Wars of Liberation, the First World War, the Second World War and the Greek Civil War.

The museum features a superb collection of flintlock pistols from around Europe

A variety of late 19th century long guns, including British Martini Henry rifles. These were used by the Greek military in the 1880s and 1890s
