WSJ Describes Draconian D.C. Gun Laws

Few papers in the mainstream media really grasp the state of gun laws in the United States, but a new feature from The Wall Street Journal describes the laws, and even offers an interactive breakdown state by state. The paper also notes this passage about D.C. gun laws:
“Legal gun owners must be registered by the city, a red flag for many in the gun-rights community concerned that registration lists could be used to confiscate firearms. The District limits the number of bullets a gun can hold and the type of firearm residents can buy. It requires that by next year manufacturers sell guns equipped with a special identification technology—one that hasn’t yet been adopted by the industry.”
In other words, D.C. – like many cities across the country – attempts to make it so hard that law-abiding citzens give up. The problem is that criminals, being criminals of course, won’t follow these rules. They’ll find other ways to obtain their guns anyway.
