Who Guards the Guards: Guns Stolen Down Under

In Australia it is extremely difficult to own a firearm. In major cities even swords have been banned since 2004. So clearly criminals shouldn’t have access to guns – but that’s not the case. Perthnow.com is reporting that criminals actually found a way of obtaining more than a dozen guns, they stolen them from the Department of Agriculture.

According to news reports:

“Police are investigating the theft of 13 firearms, including military-style assault rifles, from a Department of Agriculture property in Karratha.”

Not that anything like that would ever happen in the United States; now would it? Except we’ve reported on numerous similar cases. Shouldn’t this be proof to those who call for tougher gun laws to keep “guns off the streets” that criminals will just get more brazen in how they obtain firearms?
