The Hill Calls Obama “Gun-Friendly” – Is This Really the Case?

Should Democrats be upset that Obama hasn’t stood up to National Rifle Association? That’s the tone of a piece for The Hill by Bob Cusack, who quotes Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) as saying “I can’t even get a hearing (on gun control issues).” This has been a long and continued cry from the left-leaning media, which has repeatedly noted that the Democrats fear bring up the issue of guns.

As we’ve previously reported, this isn’t because the NRA has some magical power. It is because it is an issue that people vote on, plain and simple. So instead of “standing up to the gun lobby,” maybe the liberals need to understand that this isn’t an issue drawn on party lines – and that’s why some Democrats aren’t making it an issue!

And yet as we continue to delve deeper into the issue of the ban on the importation of the M1 rifles from South Korea we can’t help but wonder, how pro-gun has Obama in fact been? The M1 issue aside, President Obama has had the luxury in less than two years in office to nominate two justices to the Supreme Court, and both picks aren’t exactly what we’d call “pro-gun.”

That can have a lot more sway in the long run than “standing up to the NRA.”
