Statesman Journal Calls for Guns to be Sold Not Scrapped

Time and time the mainstream media reports on gun buybacks, gun amnesties and other events were guns are collected and destroyed. The media seldom considers the historical value, and it almost never considers the monetary value of these items. So we’re pleased to see that some in the MSM actually have a similar thought to our thinking that maybe seized guns could be sold.

In an op-ed piece for The Oregon Stateman Journal Alan Gottlieb and Dave Workman offer the opinion that “Sized guns should be sold, not scrapped.” The pair writes about the recent Los Angles event where thousands of guns are annually destroyed:

“Like it or not, firearms are a valuable commodity for which law-abiding citizens will pay good money; dollars that could help support the agency that willingly sent these guns to a furnace. Depending upon the type and condition of these firearms, 8,300 guns could fetch a princely sum that could help pay for department programs, anything from gasoline for patrol cars to training or additional equipment.”

Now if only other papers would let this message get out.
