Gun Buybacks National Edition

A number of gun buybacks were held this past weekend, with one in Los Angeles offering $100 for handguns and rifles, and $200 for assault weapons. We’d like to ask again how a gun is determined to be an “assault weapon.” Of course we again question the purpose of these events, as it is still unlikely that criminals actually hand in their weapons. Yet, a similar event – with similar payout – was held in Brooklyn across the country.

The media of course listens, and goes on to quote the media, as it calls these events a success for “getting guns off the street.” So we ask, do the sponsors ever consider these events failures?
