Fort Myers Goes After Illegal Guns

Unlike other efforts to get “guns off the streets,” the Fort Myers Police Department in Florida is actually cracking down on illegal guns, not just trying to get people to turn in old firearms.

According to WINK News:

“Undercover vice and uniformed patrol removed 27-guns from city streets for the month of July. Operation Safe Neighborhood is a proactive approach to reduce crime and improve quality of life in the City of Fort Myers. The goal is to identify and arrest people that commit violent crimes and to arrest individuals who illegally possess firearms.”

Kudos to the police in Fort Myers for actually going after true illegal guns, instead of trying to collect guns and later claim they came from “the streets.”
