Football Player Owns Guns: Is it a Crime?

There is no denying that professional athletes sometimes do stupid things. They’re only human, but because of a few bad apples who do stupid things with guns, suddenly any athlete that owns a gun is… really bad! Stampede Blue, an Indianapolis Colts blog, notes this fact when it addressed that Marvin Harrison was found to have a gun in his possession when he was stopped by police. This follows a report from ESPN that paints Harrison as a criminal, failing to note he legally owns the gun.

Stampede Blue offers this take:

“…after searching his car, they (the police) found a gun. No surprise because Harrison is an avid gun collector. Last I checked, that was still a legal thing to do… According to the report, Harrison had the correct registration and permit for the gun.”

Of course why would ESPN fail to include these facts? It would make for a less interesting story.
