Firing Back: UK Has Strict Gun Laws, So Will Even Tighter Laws Do Anything?

The recently shooting spree by taxi driver Derrick Bird in Northern England has increased calls for even stricter gun laws in the U.K., but we must ask, if the gun laws are already among the strictest in Europe, isn’t this just more proof that bans don’t work?

Gun crime has been on the rise in parts of England, and while crime remains low, incidents such as the Cumbria shooting spree should be proof that criminals intent with doing bad things will be able to indeed do bad things! Trying to ban guns completely would be like closing all the bars because a few people drive drunk.
