Firing Back: Fine Guns are Like Fine Art Too

Perhaps one problem with firearms in this country is that movies, TV shows and video games only depict the worst side of guns. Seldom are guns shown in movies or TV shows where someone defends their home from a break in. If anything, usually the bad guy loses control of his big, mean gun and the homeowner gains the upper hand. This is seldom the reality.
But movies, mostly action films and war movies, show the cold steel of military weapons. There is nothing wrong with these of course, and many of these firearms have their own character. But these are more akin to finely crafted tools than works of art, and perhaps that is why the anti-gun crowd can’t appreciate the craftsmanship in guns.
Our friends at Ammoland.com noted in a recent piece the Purdey Shotguns as an example of craftsmanship meets beauty. We’re not saying that Glock or H&K or Remington need a makeover. Far from it, but as with art, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and maybe the anti-gun ground just hasn’t seen the beauty yet. Let us hope they awaken and see that whether it is a Glock or a Purdey guns aren’t ugly, they can indeed be works of art too.
