Even NPR Questions Chicago Gun Ban

We couldn’t believe what we were reading. Normally you’d expect NPR to have a slant that – dare we say – leans towards being anti-gun, but then we saw that it was John Lott, Jr. who wrote the editorial and we then expected more reasonable commentary. But it is interesting that even NPR is looking to challenge the notion of gun bans. As Lott notes:

“The Chicago gun debate finally shows signs of changing. With the Supreme Court’s decision on the city’s gun ban imminent, people might be beginning to understand that gun bans don’t stop criminals from getting guns.”

Lott and NPR then go on to explain the issue, and show how the mainstream media in Chicago, and elsewhere, are showing how off the mark Mayor Richard M. Daley is on the issue. Could it be that Daley is the only one who really still believes that gun bans keep criminals from getting guns?
