Editorial Says Guns Cause Violence

Lately there have been reports that violence is down, and yet gun ownership is up. However, this didn’t stop the editors at The Milford Daily News in Massachusetts from penning an editorial to counter this claim with the snazzy title “More guns mean more gun violence.” The editorial offers this passage:
“The latest data comes from the Violence Policy Center, a gun-control advocacy organization based in Washington. It crunched the numbers and found an unsurprising correlation between the rate of firearms deaths, the level of gun ownership and the strictness of gun laws.
“The five states with the lowest per capita firearms deaths Hawaii, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York have lower-than-average rates of gun ownership and gun laws that are stricter than federal regulations.”
Now we know that with editorials you can be biased, but is twisting the facts OK? It is worth noting that the editors fail to bring up Chicago, a city with a handgun ban where crime is out of control. This sort of goes contray to what the editors are saying, buy facts would most certainly ruin their argument.
