China Tries to Target Black Market Guns

The Wall Street Journal is about the only mainstream media outlet picking up on story that was first reported in China Daily this week on how authorities in China are cracking down on illegal guns. It should be stressed that in China almost all guns are essentially banned, but there has been a stark increase of the number of illegal guns being produced domestically.
Notes the WSJ:
“Guns are banned in China, but authorities are struggling to stamp out a black market for them that spans the country’s poor rural inland to its booming coast.”
The article notes that skilled gunsmiths are producing homemade guns. Shouldn’t be a warning that tough gun laws aren’t enough to stop the flow of illegal guns? This should serve as a warning that those who want guns will always find a way, and stronger laws only keep law-abiding citizens unarmed, while not stopping criminals from obtaining guns anyway.
