Boston Herald’s Michael Graham Sums Up Problem With Gun Laws

Time and time again the anti-gun zealots call for tougher gun laws. They cry out when crime rises, they cry out when there is a senseless shooting, and they cry out when a child is killed by an illegal gun. The problem, as Michael Graham of The Boston Herald writes, is actually the people involved – not the guns.
In an editorial that comes following the death of 8-year-old Liquarry Jefferson, who was shot and killed by his 7-year-old cousin, Graham notes that you can’t blame the laws. The laws simply didn’t work, and Graham accurately points the finger at who should be blamed:
“It’s not the NRA’s fault that Lakeisha Gadson refused to do her most basic duties as a mom. No amount of gun control laws can change the child-endangering circumstances inside that crime scene of a home, with a mom with a record and five kids from four different fathers, all of whom were in prison at the time.”
No amount of gun control laws can change this fact, nor can gun control laws stop senseless shooting in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood, or on the mean streets of Chicago, because it should be apparent that criminals would always find a way to obtain illegal guns.
