Another Gun Amnesty for Omaha

We always question, and will continue to question the idea of gun buybacks. But now we’re seeing another interesting twist on these – gun amnesties. AP via KTIV in Omaha is reporting that the police will hold an amnesty this Saturday in the hopes of getting guns off the streets.

 On the surface this sounds like it would encourage criminals to get rid of guns, we wonder if this is ever really the case. The last such event yielded 30 guns and some three cases of ammunition. Our concern is whether any of these guns were used in a crime – thus making it extremely difficult we believe to prosecute said crime. And there is little proof that this would actually stop future crime!
