Washington Post Quotes Anti-Gun Representative, No Pro-Gun Rep. Quoted

We shouldn’t be surprised that The Washington Post would quote Rep. Carloyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), a “gun control advocate” in the May 21, 2009 story on how the House has approved measures to allow guns into national parks. Rep. McCarthy’s comments clearly show her thoughts on where party lines should fall.

“We have a Democratic president, a Democratic House and a Democratic Senate, and we’re passing more gun legislation than when there was a Republican in the White House,” said  Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), a gun-control advocate. “It’s disappointing.”

The article further stated that “a bloc of 65 House Democrats… would oppose” the Obama adminstration’s efforts to reinstate the ban on assault weapons. Yet the article doesn’t actually quote any of those Democrats, instead relying on the voice of one of the House’s most vocal anti-gun advocates. Likewise, not a single Republican was quoted in the article.

But who would expect The Washington Post to offer a fair and balanced look at this issue?
