NPR Must Think AK-47s are American

OK, so Volkswagen makes cars in the United States. Honda makes cars in the United States. All of that is part of the world of global trade and international corporations. But despite this fact, the AK-47 has never been made in the United States. The AK-47 was invented in the Soviet Union, and while it was made in many parts of the world, including China, East Germany, Romania and Czechoslovakia, it was never produced in the United States.

So factor this in with this statement in an article from NPR:

“Close to two-thirds of the firearms seized in Mexico are sophisticated rifles and assault weapons — AK-47s, R-15s, .50-caliber Barretts, Mexican authorities say. “

Close to two-thirds of firearms seized in Mexico are assault weapons, and include the AK-47. This is the claim made in the piece entitled: “At Mexico’s Lone Gun Shop, Army Oversees Sales,” which claims that most of the firearms are coming from north of the border, as in the United States. So something doesn’t add up here. What a surprise.
