New Jersey’s Star-Ledger Should Get NEW Editorial Board

How did the editorial board of the New Jersey Star-Ledger manage to write such a biased and error filled story? Well, clearly they have an agenda, and it shows with this headline:
“N.J.’s one-a-month gun legislation: Not the gun law we need“
Clearly the message is that the gun law New Jersey needs is a law that makes it even harder to LEGALLY obtain firearms. The key word being legal of course, but then again this state no doubt has its fair share of those who obtain firearms illegally. Of course the editorial board had the same thought, but clearly missed the point. In fact, part of the editorial board’s complaint is that legally purchased guns just seemingly end up in the hands of criminals:
“Gun rights advocates argue that only a miniscule fraction of guns used in criminal activities were obtained at gun shows, and almost all crime guns were purchased illegally. But every weapon sold or possessed illegally had to come from a legal source in the first place.”
Every weapon sold or possessed illegally had to come from a legal source? Is this statement even true? This would be unlikely. This assumes that most guns come from straw buyers, where a gun is purchased legally and then sold to someone who can’t buy it legally. But this isn’t likely how guns end up in criminal’s hands. For one thing the whole point of serial numbers and registering of guns is to make this sort of straw purchase extremely difficult. If a legal buyer sells the gun, and the gun is recovered it is still traced back to the original owner, who will have some explaining to do.
No, most illegal firearms go through a black market. These are guns that are stolen, or are imported and never properly registered. Do you really think those AK-47s that still make their way to criminals were sold through proper channels?
