Chuck-
You bring up excellent questions. My point was that firearms should be stored safely, the same way you would store any potentially dangerous item. I think putting oil rags and newspapers next to the furace is a bad idea!

But no I don't want any restrictions on how many firearms I own.

Stored properly? What exactly do you mean by that? Do you mean I should disassemble all my guns by removing the firing pin, bolt, or other mechanism and putting them in a gun safe?

Or that I should keep them unloaded except when in use?

Or is it okay if I keep one in my nightstand?

Can my kid take a gun to school if he leaves it in his trunk, so he can hunt after school, or if he goes hunting before school?

Can a rehabilitated ex-con keep a weapon in his home, to protect it from home invasion? What if the nature of his crimes, while felonious, were not violent? Can his family members own guns, and store them in a home they share with him?

I don't want the government putting ANY restrictions on how many guns I own, where or how I store them, or what I allow my children to do with them.

You quote the second amendment on your "About" page. I suppose we have different understandings of "abridged."
