London Police Now Carrying Guns, But US Mainstream Media Silent

The mainstream media in the United States loves to report how gun laws are tougher in the U.K., and how that means there is less crime. So maybe the U.S. MSM can explain why the news media in the U.K. is all over the story on how the police are now carrying guns – including machine guns – in parts of London because of rising crime? Apparently the gun laws aren’t working.
” Officers from the CO19 unit have begun pilot patrols in Tottenham, Brixton and Haringey. The Met said the measure was a temporary response to rising gun crime.”
Security Management quotes The Telegraph:
“Some London neighborhoods are set to look a little more like Northern Ireland as elite paramilitary police hit the streets of specific neighborhoods marked by high levels of drug-related gang violence.”
The Security Management article even ran a photo of two British Bobbies (one male and one female) carrying H&K MP5 submachine guns, and also included an illustration of the firearm. More importantly the site reported facts seldom mentioned on this side of the Pond, notably:
“London has recently seen a significant jump in gun crimes with 1,736 gun crimes reported in between April and September—a 17 percent increase over last year.”
Even the Associated Press has reported on this, noting some key facts:
“Wielding submachine guns and pistols, British police are making rare armed patrols in crime-blighted London neighborhoods — a change in law enforcement tactics that may prompt calls for the wider use of weapons by the country’s traditionally unarmed Bobbies.
“London’s police department said Friday that a new armed unit is carrying out regular sweeps of districts riven by gun battles between rival drug gangs.”
The question here is why isn’t the MSM in the United States picking up on this story, or at least running with the AP reporting? Could it be that the MSN wants to continue to send the message that gun bans actually work and that the U.K. is free from gun crime? Certainly seems that way to us at Firearmstruth.com.
