Chinese Government Seizes 19,000 Firearms in Four Months

Private ownership of firearms is illegal in China. Let me repeat that statement: PRIVATE OWNERSHIP OF FIREARMS IS ILLEGAL IN CHINA. Yet in four months, the Chinese government seized 19,000 guns. According to the China View news agency, it was NOT just firearms that were seized either:
“Chinese police have confiscated 19,000 guns and close to 500 tonnes of explosives in a crackdown on explosive and gun-related crimes in the last four months, the Ministry of Public Security announced here Monday.”
But that’s not all folks, the story adds:
“Police also confiscated close to 1.47 million detonators, 800,000 bullets and 39,000 imitation guns.”
In China even replica, non-firing and imitation guns are illegal. The latter is ironic as China is a main producer of Air Soft and other non-firing replica guns.
But the bigger issue is that in a country where no one is allowed to own a single gun, 19,000 guns were seized along with 800,000 bullets! And this is just the firearms seized during a sweep to crack down on human trafficking. In total the article mentions about 5,200 people were arrested. In a nation of billion plus people this clearly a drop in the bucket.
The bigger issue is why the American mainstream media hasn’t picked up on this. If 19,000 guns are found in a country where no one can legally own a gun the question comes up WHERE DID THE GUNS COME FROM? Shouldn’t this be a clear message that in a word where there are criminals doing bad things they will find guns? Of course for the American mainstream media they’re probably looking at tying these guns to America.
