Dean Allen, a GOP candidate for South Carolina’s Adjutant General, held a “machine gun social” last Saturday. Allen, from Greenville SC, said the fund raiser was his way of celebrating the 2nd Amendment as well as showing solidarity against gun control opponents.
Around 500 people showed up Saturday at the Allen Arms Indoor Shooting Range, which is owned by Frank Allen who is unrelated to the candidate. Donors paid twenty-five dollars for barbecued food and ammo to take target practice with the weapon of their choice. A sweepstakes to win an AK-47 was included at no extra charge.
Dean Allen is quoted as saying, “I like to tell people I’m not the country club conservative, I’m the machine gun one.”
I prefer a politician who shoots firearms to one who shoots golf. We need people in local and state elected positions who protect our 2nd Amendment Right. Besides, who would want to shoot a golf, what have they ever done to anyone?
