Attention New Jersey Criminals:

It is now illegal to purchase your handguns in bulk from lawful firearms dealers.

That’s the message Governor Jon Corzine is sending to the bad guys in “The Garden State,” He just signed a bill that bans “bulk” handgun sales. Here’s a news flash for you Governor; the criminals could care less. They don’t buy handguns from legitimate dealers consequently the laws is useless.
Well it’s not totally useless. It certainly hurts one element of New Jersey society, that being every law-abiding citizen who may wish to purchase more than ONE handgun in a 30-day period. Jon Corzine believes that any number higher that ONE is “bulk” and it is now illegal in New Jersey to buy more than one handgun during a months time.
Corzine, like many anti-firearms politicians is relying on deceit and slight of hand to delay if not prevent honest, law-abiding American citizens their constitutional right to keep an bear arms. Nowhere in the Second Amendment is any mention, utterance or hint of a limitation on the number of firearms an American may own.
Corzine’s own argument and the supposed target of this legislation make no sense. The law is based on the supposition that criminals purchase bulk weapons from legitimate gun dealers then turn around and sell those same firearms to criminals to make huge profits. Criminals do not purchase handguns from legitimate gun stores; criminals steal guns. One has to ask the governor, can he provided any evidence that this is a common occurrence in New Jersey?
Confusing the situation even more, Corzine spoke about the August 2007 murders of three friends on a Newark School yard. They were shot and killed by a criminal using a gun that was legally purchased out of state. It begs the question… what the hell does that have to do with preventing someone from buying more than one handgun within 30 days inside of New Jersey? Corzine is trying to exploit a horrific mass-murder for political and ideological purposes. It’s shameful but it’s a clear example of the depths of deceit the anti-gun crowd will stoop to pass junk legislation.
Who wins with the passing of this law? Just the criminals, because they don’t care one iota about this law. It helps them, it slows down the number of armed citizens and makes the job of being a criminal easier.
The losers? Why the American public of course. Once again we have a law that will do absolutely nothing except make it more complicated and complex for people to purchase a firearm. There are certainly dozens of ways this law could cause complications and delays for legitimate individuals who wish to purchase an additional firearm. Once again, a solid example of government limiting the rights of individuals based more on a general anti-gun ideological agenda rather than a genuine threat to society.
